my alarm went off when i was opening the car. it would not stop sounding even when i tried blipped the key. i managed to start thr car and and i drove it with the alarm sounding. after 5 mins the alarm stopped and i drove one. however when i parked the car only the central locking worked. the light dont flash when i blip the key and the alrm does not activate. the led on the dash flashes at all times now.

do i have to reactivate or reset the retched thing. if so how?

any help much appreciated

Hi noia, welcome to AlfaOwner. I hope you enjoy you long stay with us.

About the alarm, is it factory fitted or a Meta (the brand that Alfa uses as after market)?

A reset might solve any problems.

thanks hugo

as far as i know its factory fitted and activated from the same switch as the central locking (which still works fine). I am reluctant to go to the dealer about it as when i called them they started taking about a key which my handbook says is not available in the uk. this is just the latest in a long line of dealer incompetance.

i must also say that i have found alfa owner a mine of information. my 156 is my first modern alfa and while it is easy to get info on my guilia sprint, the 156 can be frustrating

you should ask for that key, and for operation istructions also. all alarms are escorted by operation istructions. do not try to reset the alarm by disconnecting the battery, if it has internal battery it will get worse, if it doesnt, you will have to make sure that your remote works fine before you disconnect the battery, when you connect it back, the alarm in most cases is set in armed mode.
