156 wheel bearings

My 156 makes a rumbling noise once I have reached 30mph. I can only suspect the wheel bearings need replacing. Having checked the prices I was outraged to find that they are in excess of 50 each. What is the reason for this?
Also, does anyone know if it is a relatively easy job to change them. I'm not sure if special tools are required.
Thanks in advance

P.s. The v6 engine is still hunting and stalling after installing new MAF for 50 odd quid from EBAY. They must be Bosch rejects. Can anyone advise me of a good supplier who can sell me a genuine MAF that is within limits and not going to give me problems. I know it is the MAF because if I unplug it the hunting stops but MCSF light is on.

Re: 156 wheel bearings

scrapyard maf will sort it out or tell if if it isnt the maf, either way for £5-10 you cant go wrong imo.

wheel breaings cost so much because they come with an abs wheel iirc. fitting the front is a pain but rear is easy enough.
