alfa romeo 156


my 156 has a clutch problem i was driving it and tried to select a gear but the pedal jammed down , i can manually lift it back up but there is no pressure and i cant select a gear. Does anyone know if i need a new clutch or has anyone any ideas please

Sounds like the clutch cylinder, the seals can go on them IIRC

right this may sound strange, try and pump it, if is like my stilo went, there will be a leak in the master cylinder, and again if its the same as the stilo, which most parts on the 156/147/GT are, then the brake fluid and clutch fluid use the same resoviour, and as a safty precaution, it puts all pressure into the brakes.

it might not work at 1st, but there should still be a little downward movement in the clutch, even its mm. keep pumping with your foot on the brakes, and see if it eventually comes up? let me know
