Re: Irish Selespeed expert needed.
Thanks for all the help/advice guys, Pat will contact you by phone this evening. Theredx19 the symptons were it continually needed topping up with fluid (the correct fluid was used) and gradually got to the stage where it would need fluid in the middle of a short journey, otherwise gear selection would become very difficult. Now it won't engage a gear at all. It appears the actuator is leaking and needs replacing, Pat (service enginee) should be able to confirm this on Wedensday. The links to the actuators for sale that have been posted here are very helpful but the problem is it is not a job that can be tackled by your average mechanic according to Auto Lusso. Does anybody know what exactly is involved in replacing and setting up an actuator. The main dealer wants €1200 for the actuator but won't give him a quote for the labour involved in fitting it, or at least are being very vague about it. The correct and cheapest route is obviously to buy one of the actuators on ebay, but how do we get it fitted ?
