Damn, blast, bleeding cam belt...Arrrgghhhh!!!
Just thought I'd share my very recent experience with you.
Last month I purchased my Selespeed (2000 W with 60,100 on clock) from a well known, supposedly reputable, dealer. Part of the agreement was that I'd get a FULL 60,000 mile service done before I picked up the car. The garage stamp the service book to say that the service has been carried out. One month and 1,000 miles later (Monday morning), the car breaks down. Diagnosis is that the cam belt has broke, causing all manner of horrible expensive damage, which is going to cost me near £2,000 to put right. Anyway, it transpires that the dealer that I've bought the car from HAD NOT carried out the 60,000 mile service as was required, instead opting just to give me an oil and filter change. To make matters worse, this dealer doesn't provide a warranty on it's cars, and nor will it accept any kind of liability towards the damage caused.
The moral of the story is, Don't buy a car from the CAR SHOP, and ALWAYS take out your own warranty as these beautiful bella's sure do cost a packet to put right.
There, this useless rambling has made me feel a hell of a lot better...thanks for listening!
