selespeed oil

i have been advised that i can use Motul DEXRON III instead of buying my selespeed oil from my main dealer, it costs about 11 for 2 litres so is just short of 1/2 the price.
If this is ok to use then i might as well save my cash until i replace my (leaking) selespeed pump, but if its not ok i would rather not use it at all, obvious really i guess but i woul like to ask those in the know before i buy it, i wouldnt want to risk trashing my hydraulics on my otherwise (touch wood etc etc) reliable car.
Anyone know? please

Engines by Alfa, prices by Fiat, design by God that's the 156. Whichever engine you get.
