I had problem with loud noise just when the wipers start the return stroke (usually at high speed or with strong cross-wind). I concluded this was caused by the drivers side wiper 'rocking' so that the spoiler could strike the windscreen glass. If you look at the underside of the spoiler you'll see three little rubber plugs. I think these are supposed to help reduce such noises. Unfortunately the centre plug is in the wrong place. I fixed the problem by attaching a snall piece of foam rubber under the spoiler at the point where it is closest to the screen surface.
To demonstrate the problem swich the wipers off at top dead centre (use the ignition switch) and have a look - the spoiler is very close to the glass surface.
I also had genaral noise problems from the linkage. I cured this by stripping the linkage out and greasing the spindles and ball joints with teflon rich water resistant grease. Because the linkage is built with very little lub at the factory the spindles wear and the excess clearance causes much noise. a new linkage (or the aforementioned greasing) will shut them up.
