it's the number of start ups that is also crucial. If you only have short journeys, the mileage does not stack up but the number of start ups does and that is when most strain on the belt occurs. An engine when running and floored will already have some inertia, when starting it goes from 0 to 250 ish rpm (also when cold) in a split second due to the starter and that strain all adds up, that on top of the rubber ageing is where the three years comes in.

We will end up doing them every other month
