156 - Lower Wishbones/Ball Joints Anybody ?
Am trying to totally eradicate a handling issue I have had on a 2000 156 with sp3. The ride was hard and I felt every bump/rut in the road. Replaced tie-rods, metal which joins strut to anti-roll bar, and left-right bouncy ride has gone. have also replaced uneven worn tyres with Michelin Pilot Sport, ride is more comfortable, but I can still feel movement when going over joints on new/uneven tarmac at speeds greater than 70mph (I know shouldn't legally go any faster, but what is the point in owning an Alfa).
My mechanic has mentioned the lower arms have worn bushes and I was wondering if anyone has had them done on a 156, what the symptons were like before and how did replacing them improve the ride.
Apparently from an early Kendr post there is a also tube which supports the antiroll bar, and some other links I may have missed which could also be causing the problem. I still have a clonk from front right (car has had all shocks and top wish arms replaced).
The car is out of warrany, so it'll be down to the wallet, any tips/experiences would be reaaaally helpful...
On a totally different point had a spare minute and found a 1yr old GTA with 500 miles on the clock for £24K (UK dealer car), sounds cheap eh, just need to find the cash.
