ABS/VDC System Failure & "Safe Mode"
My abs/vdc warning light came on about 2 months ago and I didn't really get round to getting it fixed aside from telling my neighbour who is a mechanic to look when he got chance. Then the other day I lost all power as in the car would still drive but any real power didn't kick in unless you really thrashed it ie. pressing the accelarator normally would give little response. Told my neighbour and he says it's just the car in some sort of safe mode he says a lot of cars do it when they have a problem. It's strange that mines only done it after a couple of months of having abs/vdc failure. He took it into his garage today and says it looks to be something to do with the abs unit itself on one of the front wheels but then mentioned something about some sort of air flow unit or something. He said he needs to use some video device to look at what's happening down there whilst the car is been driven to see exactly what's wrong and what needs doing. The abs/failure has been on pretty much constantly or within 10 mins of starting the engine since it first happened. Anybody know anything about any of the above, I've read through posts but can't see much more apart from about battery and fuses etc, which I believe is not the problem on mine?????????
I should say mine is an 05 plate 147 1.9 JTD
