Red Kay Saga?
In my travels I've found a lot of talk about Alfa's infamous Red keys, and horror stories of £1500 ECU/Lock replacements if lost etc.
Searched about, and some seem to have two or three red keys, with one being a darker colour etc depending on age of vehicle, which is where I'm lost!
From memory when I test drove (UK 98 156 V6) there was the red key with the remote locking button on, and a smaller blue key which looked like a manual key, ie no remote button. So the question is, do I have a master key? And does that blue key deactivate the alarm/immobiliser if I use it? If not, what good is it if I can get in the car but immobiliser kicks in and the alarm's going off?
Question came to light because I need to ask Alfa the cost of a new main (red) key because the black rubber button is a bit worn and loose, so will I be able to do this, or is there a horror story in the offing? If so gonna need the garage to get in touch with previous owner sharpish!
