OK, this is a stupid question. How do I remove the wheels on my 156?
I loosened the 5 bolts (inc 1 security bolt), jacked up the car, completely removed the bolts. There is no way the wheel will come off. I have tried penetrating fluid on the five points where the wheel meets the hub. I have hit it fairly hard around the edge of the wheel from behind with a large club hammer. I am now afraid of damaging the inside face of the wheel if I hit it too hard.
Am I missing something blindingly obvious?.
The wheels are standard 8 hole silver alloys.
The reason I want to remove one wheel is there is an intermittent squeal coming from the drivers side rear. It goes when the brakes are touched gently, sometimes for the rest of the journey but sometimes it comes straight back. It can go a week or so without squealing, sometimes it squeals all the time.
If it is squealling, cornering left stops it.
Looking through the holes in the wheel, there is about 1cm of pad left on the outside, can't see the inside pad. Could it be a wheel bearing?
