In the scheme of things £300 notes to keep any car on the road is peanuts, of course if you throw a clutch in at the same time, it could be £450, but then you would be happy in the knowledge that every fix you do is spot on and the car is worth holding onto, what would you get for it, and what would you want to drive for thwe same figure?
Sadly cars over about 5-6 years old are expensive to repair in proportion to their value, but all motors need maintenance, so if you have a car you like - stick with it, its cheaper than depreciation to repair a car;
My car lost £21,000 in seven years, before I bought it, 3k per year, plus the guy had bills of approx. £1500 per year from the Stealers, sorry dealers for maintenance.
