Ok, so 3 weeks ago I bought myself an 05 156 Sport wagon, 2.4 20v multijet, only 60k miles on it, Full black leather in mint condition. Silver, few chips on the front but i could live with that as the paint was other wise in mint condition. I didn't opt for the warranty (
) as i bought it from a small independent garage a few hours away, thought it wouldn't be worth the paper it was written on, especially considering the travel distance to go back.
I was aware of one or 2 minor issues when I bought it, mainly being the creaky suspension and hesitation at low revs. Having done my research i thought it would just be a case of cleaning the EGR/Maf (yes Muppet I know, should have walked away here), Unfortunately it wasn't.
So here is the list of faults:
Hesitation at low revs(now looking to be stuck flaps in the turbo £££)
General surging across power range (possibly related to issue one)
Thermostat stuck open
Needs upper wishbones and drop links replacing
Neither rear electric windows work (try to move but will only go a small way, was fine when I bought it)
Rear parking sensors just beep constantly when I put it into reverse
Rear wiper works, but really struggles.
Boot doesnt properly pop, and I have to claw my way in each time.
On top of that have found the speakers to be shockingly bad, have hooked my pioneer head unit up and the sounds quality is still awful. So now need to spend more sorting that out (which I would have expected from a focus, but not a car like this!)
So, if I persist and fix all this stuff is this going to be a car I can enjoy for a good few years, with just routine repairs/servicing? Or have I just bought a lemon I should get shot off at first opportunity!
Really want to love this car, but cant!
