trip computer vs trip speedo?
ive tried a similar thread before, and found many many histioric threads about the same issue, but no-one has yet found a solution it seems...
the speedo and trip are recording and displaying fine, spot on, but the infocentre trip computer is way behind, and this in turn knock out all the rest of its own display such as average and actual mpg, distance travelled, range, etc etc
i know, nor do i expect the mpg things to be spot on, but mine are enormously out!
they're seems to be some sort of conversion issue, which may be coincidence, or maybe not, but others have touched upon similar figures and differences.
my speedo will record 16 miles, but the infocentre only 10, which funnily enough is like a corrected kilometre figure. So as miles are 5/8 of a kilometre...
10 divided by 5, times by 8, is 16
similarly, when my 2.4 jtd is frugaly driven, and the infocentre still only shows an average 26 to the gallon, do the same kilometre to mile sum and hey presto...
26 divided by five, times by 8, is 41.6 a much more realistic figure for a well serviced and driven jtd.
so it appears to me that the infocentre thinks its signal is in kilometres, and converts it down unnecessarily.
i know from the threads that many of you have experienced the same problem, so i'm hoping i can stir up a solutuon this time.
ive also gathered from the other threads that some dealers, have never heard of it, some that have, have blamed and replaced the speedo head itself, but wether this is the real solution or masking the problem i don't know, but as my car is a 2002 its well out of warranty anyway!
Please help, it does my head in, and i'm eager to know wether all the other threads from time ago should have been finished off!
thanks in advance
