Re: 156 Starter motor change?
Replaced the Starter Motor yesterday took just under 4 hrs incl tea breaks. I stripped all the air intake pipework out, took the battery out , undone the immediate area cable clips so i could move stuff around easier, took the plate that mounts 3 connections by the battery off and undone the 2 coolant pipes to gain more access.
I then removed the bottom difficult bolt on the starter first from the top, its very fiddly but easily done with a 13mm ring spanner (a ratchet spanner would have been very easy), then i removed the top 2 bolts and turned the starter to remove the electrical connections. Then it's just a case of replacing in reverse order, the hardest bit was reconnecting the electrical connections first prior to bolting back up, but with a bit of patience it is possible. I found no need to get under the car at all.
