2001 156 JTD 2.4
This has only happened twice - but I#d like to get to the bottom of it.
I parked the car at a slight angle the other day - with the drivers side front and rear wheels in a small ditch, so the car was stood about 8 inches lower on the drivers side.
When I started her the next day, the was a slightly harsh knocking noise from the right hnd side of the engine bay. I popped the hood - and it seemed to be coming from the belt area of the engine. In about a minute of running, it went away, and did not return.
I drove the car for several days, keeping my ears out for any hint of it returning. I had in mind that maybe being left at an angle it might have been caused by oil draining to one side of the engine.
I the drove to Germany ( 400 mile ) where I am now. Everything was fine.
But, after being parked overnight on a level driveway - when I started her this morning the noise was back. And again disappeared after about a minute of running.
I later played with the engine revs on the car trying to see if I could hear anything. All I could hear was a very slight knock if I reved the car high, and as the car was revving down ( almost back to 2k ) I hit the throttle open again.
I#m still in Germany, and somewhat nervous about the ride home.
Any ideas gang???
