I'm in a dilemma, my beloved 156 T-spark 2.0 (2000 W) needs a head gasket and a variator, as far as I can tell, oh and some front brake pads.
The cam belt snapped less than 10000 miles ago so this is a replacement second-hand cylinder head replaced cheaply along with belts etc, but it wasn't skimmed
just couldn't afford it at the time and needed a usable car at least. Which is probably why the head gasket has now gone.
The engine has done nearly 149000 miles. Bodywork A1, full black leather interior still in A1 condition.
Is it worth fixing? I don't want to fork out another £500+ (does this sound about right? I can do the brakes myself) only to find the engine self destructs anyway in the next 6 months.
How many more miles could I hope to get out of this engine would you guys estimate? I know its a bit wet finger in the air but I haven't seen another 156 with mileage as high as this.
Thanks - any help appreciated, as the Nissan Micra 1.0
is ruining my street cred
