Not Happy Engine Oil Checks

it says to check engine oil approx 5mins after turning engine off in manual ,does this mean if i check when engine cold the level will be slightly full as the oil will have had time to drain back to sump ,assuming level was at max on the dipstick ?
prob i've got is my drive ain't level so got to move car to turnround in close to check accurately ,which is a pain and inconvienent

Re: Engine Oil Checks

The 5min delay is to allow time for it to drain back.

Checking cold is fine.

In your case, if it is parked on a slope, you will need to start it, move to level ground, turn off engine, wait 5-minutes, then check oil level.
