Over the weekend I was leaving a carpark and some twit decided to reverse out of his space without looking so I had to slam on the anchors, in doing so I managed to stall the car.
I restarted and got on my way but got a warning of "Motor control system failure" the car drove fine as per normal. been back to it twice now and the error comes up every time, yet there is no obvious difference in how it drives or no drop in performance at all.
Any ideas what could be up? of is it far to vague to tell at the moment.
My car is a 05 plate 156 1.9 JTD (150bhp)
I have an OBD cable (as shown here
) Inside it has a FTDI RS232BL chip has been set up as COM4 on my laptop.
I have tried to connect it to see the fault codes but i cannot get any of the software peices to connect i've tried alfadiag demo, digimoto, unidiag and scan tool.
VAG-COM test feature comes up and passes the test to say the interface is there (says its an opto type?!?!)
I'm wondering if the drivers are incorrect possibly, and where i could get correct ones, i am feeling a bit clueless, i am faily competent with computers but have never done or used OBD equipment/software.
I'd just prefer to try and see whats up for myself before I have to take it to a garage and part with a large sum of cash just to be told what is wrong.
Be nice to clear the message to see if there is really a problem and it it comes back.
Is there any other way to do this, will resetting the ECU clear the messages (disconnecting the battery for a while)? At least i will know if there really is a problem rather than an erronious message thrown up from stalling.
I've used the search and cant find much that helps so any help/suggestions will be greatly recieved.
