GT Brake problem

Hi All,

I have been searching the threads to try and see if others have posted about this problem but no joy. Would be interested to hear some opinions:

I have noticed the braking performance of my GT has deteriorated, I am having to dab the brakes to 'pump them up' before I do the actual braking. Any ideas why?

I thought I had read somewhere before about some problem with vacuum pressure and diesel cars relating to brake performance but cannot trace the thread.

My car is standard and, due to not owning it long, have no idea when the fluid was last changed. It does have full Alfa service history so I assume it has been changed if the service schedule dictated (last service was 48K miles)

Any comments appreciated.

Re: GT Brake problem

For starters, I'd go for a fluid change and a full system bleed

Re: GT Brake problem

Hi Steve

The braking of my GT has deteriorated in exactly the same way. It only started about 3 weeks ago but I have noticed it was worse when the the temperature was cold.

I'm hoping it is just water in the brake fluid, I'm going to have it changed.

When I had the fluid changed in my Stilo, there was a huge difference in the braking, so I'm hoping for the same improvement with the GT.

Re: GT Brake problem

Yes you are right, it does coincide with cold weather. I will change the fluid and see if I get an improvement.
Thanks for the replies.
