GT gear stick - selecting reverse

This may seem like a strange question but here goes...

On the GT should the button under the gear knob used to select reverse be spring loaded and therefore return back into position quickly ?

Ever since getting my GT I've wondered as mine is definitely not spring loaded it kind of slides slowly back into position. It's all too easy to catch it while changing gear too.

Every time I've got into another GT I forgot to check.

Re: GT gear stick - selecting reverse

My GT (2007) doesn't have a button under the knob & reverse gear is def not "spring loaded".

Suppose it could depend on whether you have a 5 or 6 speed box.

My 2.0L JTS is 5 speed.

Hi mate

The gear stick button for reverse on my 6 speed box is spring loaded.
