Re: Replacement Shocks/Springs For A 156 ?
It all depends how long you want to keep the car? If you want to keep it for a while now is a good time to upgrade from the standard OE set-up, which is barely acceptable at best. Lots of folks on here go for the Koni Sports at the mildest setting (as Julian suggests), the results are a huge improvement over the quite dreadful standard shocks. You could also change the springs as well, if they've done 130,000 miles anyway they will be very tired, again lots of folks get the Eibach pro-kit springs which in combination of the Konis give a quite spectacular improvement! You could also look at Koni FSD shocks instead of the Sports, some really good write-ups on here if you do a search.
Again, all depends how long you want to keep the car, and if you want to improve it. If so, whatever you do, don't put the standard Alfa kit on it, this OE stuff really is total and utter rubbish, born out of typical Alfa philosophy of putting the cheapest and nastiest kit on the car in the hope of boosting profit!
