About to replace the dreaded variator!!
Hi all, first new thread on here for me. How exciting!
As the title explains my lovely '02 147 1.6ts sounds like a not so lovely '72 John Deere 6L disel. Not cool. So ive bought all the parts i need, variator, removal tool, cam lock tool, new gasket, variator seals and a new cam belt (rest is fine only done 5K since cam belt change). Basically wondering if you have to actually remove the camshaft from the engine to remove the variator, can it not be unscrewed in situe? Ive had a look arround, on here and at eLearn (after 4 hours of trying to install it). No one seems to have done it so im presuming not. Just wondered.
Also any tips or hints before i dive on in would be ace.
