I've had my 147 for two weeks now and unfortunately it seems like an expensive repair is required after this morning's fun...
Went to start as normal this morning, misfire on the engine so I stopped it. Left it for a bit and tried again but it did the same thing. The second time things got a whole lot worse, I got a selespeed failure warning, low oil pressure warning and motor control system failure warning. I stupidly decided to try again, this time I was met with a horrific crunching sound from somewhere, not sure if it was engine internals or something else and the engine just died.
RAC came out, I didn't really want to start it, but we did it quickly, same thing, horrible metallic crunching noise then the engine stopped.
They called a lowloader which has taken it off to Duncan at Alfanet. I'm not holding out much hope for a cheap repair. Duncan mentioned it could be the bottom end. It had a reconditioned engine fitted at 54k, its on 89k now and it had a head rebuild in October. So this would be just unbelievable
I feel gutted. I've not heard anything else since it went in, so fingers crossed its not engine internals grinding together
I refused to listen to people's negative comments regarding the marque, but if costs become too high I might have to abandon ship as it were
Pretty upsetting seeing my 'new' car being towed away earlier...
