Thinking of buying a 147
I've been a member for a while, but not posted until now. I've been a bit Alfa fan for years, and I'm now looking at spending somewhere between £4-6000 on a 147. Head's telling me Audi/VW, but heart keeps telling me Alfa!
I'd really like to get a diesel for the economy, but it's hard to get a nice spec one with low miles, so I've been considering a 2.0 TS instead. Drove one today - 24.5k on the clock, looks clean and tidy, and it's a lovely engine. Not as torquey as a diesel, but really nice and smooth, and sounds great when you rev it!
I can't help thinking a diesel is worth hanging on for a good one, but I'm undecided. Anyway, I'm not going to start another petrol vs diesel debate, but I'd be interested to hear your thoughts on value for the following:
2004 147, 2.0 TS Lusso 3dr, red, black leather, 24.5k on the clock. FSH (last service at 18k)
It's up for £4650, but due to it's age it'll need a cambelt etc, plus is wants taxing, and the MoT runs out in March.
What would you offer? I'm tempted to put in a low offer, especially in the current economic climate. What's the worst that can happen eh?!
