Went out to check the oil level this morning, everything hunkydory, just a little top-up. Noticed a small amount of emulsified oil in the top of the filler cap, almost a smear really. I've cleaned it off so I'll keep an eye on the situation over the next few days. Any ideas, should I be worried? The car's done 16500 miles and is running well. Will the recent weather have had anything to do with it?
Hi Hoygs, thanks for the reassurance, this is the first really cold weather we've had since I've had her, so I guess that figures. I'll keep an eye on it though, that's for sure. There doesn't seem to be any oily crud in the coolant header tank so hopefully nothing sinister.
And rest assured, I always give Claudia a good spanking, she loves it! wink
Just to reassure you a bit more, you get this on all cars this time of year. It's due to the cold creating condensation on the inside of the rocker cover which mixes non-too well with the oil when you run her - result is Mayonaisse. Don't stick on on your sarnies though, it tastes disgusting !
