Early 2L TS Lacking Power
We have an early Alfa 156 2L TS which is lacking power at higher revs. Up to about 3000rpm it is fine, and above that it runs roughly. Accelerate from low rpm up past 3000rpm and it is as though you jab the brakes. Above that it has little power, although if you get up to speed it will cruise happily on a constant throttle. Foot to the floor acceleration in 3rd gear and it struggles to reach the red line.
As best I know the 156 on full throttle should switch to a mapped fuel map, and ignore the feedback from the lambda probe. If so that would suggest the problem isn't the lambda probe. My main guess would be the maf sensor, but I don't know how to test this, or a way to trigger any self diagnosis that would tell me.
All the best
