MCSF after new battery!!!

Oh dear, after a flat battery a couple of weeks ago I've replaced it with a pricey new Varta one. Now 1 week later I've just got a Motor Control System Failure! No other indication of anything wrong and the car drove OK (only 2 miles back from the Supermarket!).

After 2 restarts (I left it half an hour) it was still there so it doesn't look like a phantom warning.

Could the battery change have dislodged anything that could have caused this?

It is taking too long to warm up the mo, and I was going to get the thermostat checked - could there be any link with that?

Any ideas peeps? Is it safe to drive in that state?

Here's to alcohol, the cause of—and solution to—all life's problems.
