When a perfectly good car in daily use needs a rear suspension rebuild (well 2 new rubber bushes), and has a little bit of rust above the fuel tank (check this if you ever get a 164, v.expensive as can't get at it without taking most of the back of the car apart, non structural stupid new MOT rules, within 1m of a seat belt or something), non economic repair as it would cost the £400 the car was worth, then I was due new belts another £550 as you may as well get a full service and all the fluids changed as well.
I had to get another vehicle for work, and I wasted all the tax trying to give it away, and then had to get it taken for scrap, a real waste.
However I did talk to them and it did go to an Italian specialist breakers yard, so maybe there is a 75 racing about with my old hand built Ferrari designed 3l 12 valve V6 in it
I am still looking for a 1988 one, pre cat even quicker. You get used to the tourque steer, very light wieght, really quick saloon car. It used to be great upsetting all the shinney new over weight sluggish German exec barges in a car much quicker, and 16 years older....I could go on but I would be getting really off topic.
However, why not get really big discs, designed to stop a car at 155mph with a genuine dual brake pipe braking system, like on an ancient 164, and yes it would red line in 5th gear at that age, it is the only car I've had that you could change up a gear at 135mph! All for £700 with a years MOT!
