Re: Motor Control System Failure after remap
I think all the 1.9 16v alfa's use the GT1749V.
(most manufacture's do, vag 1.9 & 2.0tdi, 2.0tdci etc)
The 17bit of the 1749 relates to the turbine housing size, whilst the 49 is more to do with wheel sizes.
You can have modding/clipping done on any turbo to make it spool up quicker, spin faster etc, but...
increasing the complete turbo size is also a good way to go, I think the D5 is a GT2052V, personally I would look at that, but then I'm the sort to look at a 23 or 25xx housing size to upgrade my GT2256!
A bigger housing turbo will not be a bolt on mod, you will be needing adapter plates to mate to the manifold (or fabricate a tubular manifold for it) then you'll also need to lok at intake and exhaust from it too.
Need not be expensive, but will requie time and good machine shop.
Maybe easier just to mod a standard turbo?
