Re: Engine Problems
haveyoubooked..phew..what a lot to digest...Im not sure I want to remove oil cap whilst engine's on..probably get a face full of oil. (I assume you don't mean while the engine is hot after being driven?) you just mean from cold, turn her over and then take cap off?? With regards to the water. The actual tank (that you pour the water into) does not have any bubbling going on. When she was overheating the other day, I lifted the bonnet and checked to see if both fans were coming on. I checked the water tank, the water returning from the engine is travelling along the tube and then there is a small plastic area at the end of the pipe that joins onto the water tank and you can see the water bubbling and squirting in there, it seems to be squirting the water bank into the tank erractically, not an even flow (if this makes any sense?) The front head is hot (but it can be touched comfortably, the back head is very very hot, almost burning/scaling hot. Wasn't sure why both heads had different temperatures. The engine itself, sound like it should, no knocking, whinning or clanking. It's turning over fine. It changes gear fine. I think the sluggish feeling is coming from me driving cautiously, not thrashing the pants off it!! I have been keeping it in a higher gear and changing up early as I didn't want to take the rev's over 3500 incase I blew something. Since the low oil incident I have probably driven about 200 miles in it, so if anything bad was going to happen, approximately when would it be likely (have I pased the danger period, or am I just making matters worse?) I have given it shell optimax fuel and castrol GTX 10/40 oil. Do you think an engine additive would help re-lubriacte things? Or am I just stabbing in the dark here?? Really lost what to do....gut instinct is to get it looked at asap..but I use the car daily...hhmmm dilema!!
