I've been offered a 156 at the right price but it has no keys with it (stolen recovered). Can I get new keys at my local dealer by giving them the chassis number? Or will it mean new imobiliser/ecu etc. Any info greatly appreciated.
When I got my 147 I asked the garage what would happen if I happened to lose my key. He said the key could be cut (if I had the original to make a mould) but I would have to bring my spare in the do the immobiliser. The need to copy the code from the old key as it's not stored on the ECU.
That's what the sales guy told me so I'm not sure how true it is, maybe he just wanted to make them sound more secure.
Thanks for your help guys. Went to my dealer today,as long as you have a chassis number & the car is a U.K. car, then they can order new keys. They come pre cut & they program them into your black box.On the older models, that have the dark red master key you need a new key & ecu.
