Mine does something similar. After reading through some threads on here it would seem that it could be variator. Due to it being to old or as a by product of old engine oil.
I'm going to try using some engine flush and then replacing the oil. Thats mentioned in a few threads. It might solve the problem, but even if it does not, it'll mean I can knock old oil off the list of probable problems.
I don't think its critical, but it will be worth changing it when you change the cambelt next. I have a mate with a 1.8 TS and he said he noticed his car doing the same thing a few months after he got it. He's had his car three years now.
