I currently have a 159 1.9JTDm SW as a company car, though am looking into a career change, while I will get a company vehicle, it would be of the blue light variety therefore I wont be allowed to bring it home!
I have upto £2k to spend on a car, ideally less, and have been thinking about a manual petrol 156 1.8 or 2 litre TS.
I have seen some pretty good looking cars on ebay around the £1.5k mark.
Basically what I would like to know is, other than the the front brake lines and regular cambelt changes, is there anything else I should be looking for apart from the usual things?
My 159 is my first Alfa, though I am not new service intensive machines riding motorbikes, so I understand the 156 will require more care than a bog standard mundano...
Also, is there much of a difference between the 1.8 and 2 litre engines? 15BHP doesn't sound like much...
I am in no particular hurry to buy, but I fugure it never hurts to do some homework before taking the leap.
Any help and advice would be appreaciated
