Re: Can I use Bio-diesel a a GT or 159
I've used different stuff in my Mondeo, 50:50 mix of pump diesel and straight veg oil (un-used), but when the price of veg oil and pump diesel went up I found it cheaper to use the bio-diesel sold at 94.9 a litre (this was 2 months ago when diesel was 128 or so), I used this stuff neat and my car ran fine on it, started easier than on 50:50 vegoil:diesel, although not as easy as on pump diesel. On the coldest of days, with a frost on the car, I'd let the glow plugs operate 3 times, then it took about 10 seconds of chugging before it burst into life, but it always did. Now on neat pump diesel it takes ~3 seconds.
I'm be interested in brewing my own but since the price of pump diesel has come down, and I only do ~10k a year in the Mondeo I'm not interested in bio at the moment. Should the price go up, I would consider it again.
If I upgrade my dailydriver to a car with a common rail diesel then I would not be able to use straight veg oil watered down with pump diesel, it'd have to be proper bio or normal diesel.
The place that was selling biodiesel has just stopped, as since the price of normal diesel has dropped it is now no longer worth it to process and sell, according to them.
