Improving 156 brakes - any tips?

Find the brakes on my recently acquired facelift 2.4 20v not very firm or positive particularly when braking from highish speeds & I'm looking for advice on some basic (not too costly) improvements. I have in mind the following:

Replace front pads with Ferodo DS performance (front only)
Fit Goodridge hoses
Change brake fluid to ATE Super Blue Racing Dot 4 or equivalent

Planning to leave rear brakes as they are.

Current discs are OK (car has 27K miles)

How much fluid will I need & is it worth changing the clutch fluid at the same time as I believe it uses a common reservoir with the brakes?

Any other suggestions gratefully received
