Made three new sound files of my bog-standard 147 tonight, they're out on my site in the "My 147" section... Could be good as startup files on your computer at work, scare some colleagues! This was the last step before I'm ready to mount a K&N Air filter onto it, I will then do three new recordings in a similar manner using the same (crappy) equipment, so that those of you who are pondering getting an air filter can know the actual difference in sound, both inside and outside the car! And under the bonnet, where of course all alfisti would most like to put the driver's seat if possible?
Thanks Hugo! Yeah, the difference in volume is large, with same mic under the bonnet and in the cabin... hehehe... But the fun part comes after the 2nd set of recording, then with the air filter installed. Should be up in the next few weeks if all goes well! Alfas+sounds=hella cool!
Not the tunnel one, only the acceleration one!!! The tunnel one I put the mike near the air vent on the left hand side of the steering wheel, all windows closed! It's true! Will get the K&N mounted tomorrow, I can't wait, very excited!!!
Hi, the pic above is not taken by me (unfortunately), but if you go to my site and click the mail link on my main page to send me a mail, I will send you the mail adress of the guy who took the pic, he might have it in larger resolution, and of course, it's really up to him if he wants to give it away to people or not...
Ah, can't sleep, thinking about that lovely induction sound....
Cool guys, the guy from the tuning place was just ehre and drove off with my bella! So now I'm stuck with a 156 2.0 with full exhaust for the rest of the day. Funny to drive manual gear again, my clutch foot is not very well adjusted it seems, hehehe... wink
Just picked up my car guys. After a short drive i must say the sound is quite addictive, it makes it sound more like older Alfas, methinks! Will be back later this weekend with sounds & pictures of the install, I'll keep you posted!
The installation look good and I believe that the sound it also good (I know by experience) but there is one think I want to warning you!!!
Here you have installed the KN filter is a place that is very, and I repeat, Very HOT!
In an engine, more air and more fresh air, gives more power to it, and hot air in the intake take out power from the engine.
I think you have to change you intake to a place with more fresh air!
If you need some help, just call. wink
I not talking just to criticize , I’m saying this for your good! wink

Hi paolo. Thanks for your concern. I'm just thinking this dealer who installed it for me, they've been doing alfa servicing, tuning and restoration for many many years, why would they put it in a bad spot? Do you have any suggestions where it should be moved, if anywhere? Any feedback from you and also others appreciated!
sound is great though, and it's about -3 degrees here now, so no chance of the engine overheating in the next few months anyway...
Hey 147 dude, looks good on there wink , i bet sounds nice too!!!!!!
Paulo is right.... your intake now should give you moer performance than before.... but if it ONLY took in cold air... then you'd have some more performance!!
I know some people who have built boxes around their airfilters, then made a pipe going to the front of the car.... so no warm air is taken in.... if you can make something out of carbon fibre... then eek!
“-3 degrees”!!! eek! OK…no problem; you are luck (or not! too cool us)
For the Alfa service, ok I’m not saying that did a bad job, but I know here many “expert” and Alfa mechanics that have learn their jobs by “mail” or something!
The installation that you have, have 1 good think (less tube and curves) and 1 bad think (overheating in Countries with “normal” temperature).
After many tests I’ve find that the best place to put the intake is after the battery like I have.
There you have only cool air and no danger from getting water in some “street swimming pools”.
I have a carbon fiber intake and I’ve not place the air filter in your place because it’s too big! eek!
But don’t worry if you don’t notice any power lost, its ok like this. wink
