If you're going to replace the discs, your Alfa dealer should be able to do the job in few hours (half a day).

I've just replaced the front discs with Tar-Ox grooved discs, and SS-braided lines on both of my cars. Brake feel, and performance improvement are rather obvious.

The pads and discs are easy to change no special tools required - just a bit of hard / dirty work.

If you want an improvement in brake performance, try fitting Ferodo DS2000 pads - best pads I've found so far (and I've tried a few recently)

These should work well with standard Alfa discs.
