Re: 156 2.4 thermostat change
Just did my thermostat on my 2.4 JTD this afternoon, what a blooming job getting the heat exchanger off!! [Temp had been sitting at 70 and took a while to heat up]
Anyway, was pleased as punch when I finished in about a couple of hours, turned on the ignition and the gauge shot up to the top red section!!! Thought I had maybe plugged the multiplug in the wrong way, but not!!!
I swapped the sender unit from the old one to the new one and hey presto, the needle stayed at the bottom of the gauge. Took the car for a spin, it heated up quickly and needle sits about 82-85 position on the gauge, so am not sure if the old sender unit is maybe dodgy as well?? When a sender unit fails, does it just stop working or can it read low??
Anyway, the parts place is going to order a new sender unit. What are the chances of the new one being faulty??
