No ... the bore out will not be done by Gargash. I'm actually looking to buying a new 24V V6 engine from a specialist garage in South Africa. They are famous for race-prepping Alfa Romeos.
We are talking 100mm forged Mahle pistons running the same crank; ported heads and a mild road cam; fully balanced and blueprinted .....
The garage claims 180kW @ 6,500 rpm and 300 Nm @ 4,800 rpm. That's the same as a new GTA. The garage will supply the engine as an outright sale (rather than on an exchange basis), so I get to keep my existing engine. Here's the best part -- the cost (including air-freight from South Africa) is US$5,000. Hopefully I'll be travelling there soon to check it out before placing my order.
As for Movit brakes ... they are an OEM supplier to Porsche. The big difference in their technology is that their discs are not drilled ... the ventillation holes are cast into the metal. Run a search on Google and check their site for stockists. I have been quoted GBP 1,300 for a 322mm front disc kit with new calipers.
Expensive stuff all this .... but I feel that given the pathetic Alfa residuals in Dubai, I'd rather fork out, say, $10,000 and breathe new life into the engine / gearbox / suspension than spend a lot more on a new Alfa that will remain stock (in terms of torque etc.).
.... unless, of course, the new car happens to be a GTA but I doubt whether Gargash will be able to get their hands on one anytime soom (actually, anytime at all is probably more accurate, given the limited production run planned for the GTA models).
