I've always driven petrol cars. However, my GT is the 1.9JTD and I think it's great! Not the quickiest off the mark but excellent mid range, not lost many races in third gear
Like some of the other people have said you do miss the nice sound of a petrol but that's a sacrifice I'm willing to make. Plus you get the economy too!
Ha, i couldnt make that sacrifice im afraid. Just got a GT Blackline 2.0 JTS and to see and hear it start with a diesel.. it would take the sport factor away. Many have said a diesel is fast, but the 2.0 does go if you want it to, so you can still have fun. And if it isnt fast enough, you can invest on making it go faster.
Now... no-one can say they cant afford to tune up the engine because you just bought yourself a GT which isnt the cheapest alfa to pick so i dont want to hear any of that nonsence lol. And plus, you only live once, and im sure it wont hurt your pension when you reach 60.
In favour of diesel, if you get the engine remapped it adds a heck of a load of HP overtaking the 2.0 JTS and for some reason the remap doesnt do too well on the JTS.
So you can either have a medium fast car which sounds sporty (when you give it a sports airfilter also) OR have a fast car which zooms passed everyone and they say "omfg... a tractor with NOS just done me" Then when they squint to see what did them, they see the ass end of a GT (with black smoke coming out of the exhaust because its a diesel :-P )
Also there arent many places on UK roads where you can go ape sh*t anyway except dual carrage ways and motorways at night.
Not sure how this is helped but, anyone that would like to chip in with what i said is welcome to.
