I wish to share with you a problem I experienced with my brand new 147 1,6 Lusso 120bhp;-
After abt 2,000km I noticed a strong tapping 'diesel' sound from the valve train combined with low pressure alarm for a few seconds every time I started the engine. Alfa workshop changed sensor and checked valve train and variator to no avail. Subsequently a thorough check was carried out to check engine oil pressure which proved that the pressure was too low, thus causing the secondary indications with the noisy top (and lack of power). New oil pressure pump had to be ordered from Italy (took nearly 4 weeks!!). The pump has been replaced and the engine is now running smoothly from idle to red mark, with significantly more power. I can finally start to enjoy my bella.
This is my first Alfa, and the local dealer deserves credit for providing no hazzle service under the warranty, including replacement car.
Cheers!

AHA!!!!!!! I m having the same problem and i m giving my bella to the dealer next week to check/repair the variator (or change the tappets.) Mine has noisy tappets and after half a minute the noise gets away, no "low oil pressure" msgs though. I ll ask the dealer about the oil pump, although i m afraid their answer will be negative...
Thanx for the useful post Domino and welcome aboard wink
