147 & 166 wheels?

stupid question, but why don't the 147 and 166 wheels fit each other?
i tried to fit the 147 spare wheel on my friend's 166 after he had a puncture last week, but it didnt fit. the "nipple" or whatever it is that it supposed to fit the hole in between the bolts was further out from that of the 147. it seemed that the hub was bigger.

seemed strange to me, considering that both of the cars can be fitted with mostly the same wheel sizes, 16 and 17 inchers.

can it be because the 147 is fitted with 15s standard, and 166 with 16s standard?

Alfa 147s, 156s & GTV/Spiders are 5x98mm bolt fitment.

Alfa 166s are 5x108mm fitment.

I don't know why Alfa decided to be different for the 166, but there you have it.

It's a shame, because I rather like the 5 hole 17" alloys from the 166 Super, but obviously they don't fit 156s.

Hope this helps.

i'm talking about the hub size. its bigger
and yes, he does have the 17" wheels. its a problem in malta though, he gets a puncture at least once a month..last week he got 2
thats why he needed the 147 wheel hehe

anyways, 10x for the info!
