As it droped a valve at 7200rpm, I'm guessing it's a Twinspark. In this case, renew it regardless. It bolts inside the bellhousing, and the gearbox input shaft goes through the centre of it.
For other people with a JTD, it is a a traditional slave cylinder which is located externally on the gearbox casing. This is easily renewed without gearbox removal, so you don't have to change it now unless the clutch fluid inside it is black. In that case, renew it also, as the new fluid inside it due to bleeding it will cause seal failure in the not too distant future.
When bleeding the clutch, either use a pressure 'Eezi-Bleed' or use the two man method. When using the two man method, the person inside will also have to lift the clutch pedal due to the spring linkage.
