Hello all, I've been reading these forums for some while (but only registered recently) to get a feel and a guide for what I'm letting myself into as an Alfa owner. I wonder if some one could help me answer a few questions? Fortunatly the search function has taken care of most of them
The car is a W Reg, Blue 156 2.0. I know getting an Alfa would bring a car full of small niggles, but thats part of the attraction. My Golf is sometimes too reliable for its own good, but is also a good back up in case something major happens to the Alfa. I live on the Ilse of Wight and can cycle to most places I need to get to in minutes anyway.
The car is quite tidy, but has a few scratches and wear that you'd expect for a car that age. No warning lights show on the dash, other than those which should when the car is started. The Cam Belt was changed 18 months ago and the car has done less than 10,000 miles since.
The engine under-tray plastic thingy is hanging off on the drivers side. Looks like it was held on in the past by cable-ties
There is a bolt protruding down from the body work, I guess the tray fits onto this? Does anyone know what size of nut this is off hand?
The speakers seem to work intermitantly and purely at their own will. Is this normal? Also the passanger side one distorts quite badly. Where would be a good place to look for a replacement?
Can someone recomend me a Cycle carrier for the 156? I do a lot of it and in the past have simply thrown my bikes in the back of the my Golf. I don't want to get the Alfa dirty in that manner. I need to carry up to two bikes and one is worth more than the car, so it needs to be secure and also up for a trip to the Swiss Alps next year.
Have to say though, the car is an awesome drive and I'm totally hooked.
