Re: Manual or Selespeed (147)

So it sounds like the manual would be the best choice?

Anything else to look out for, when buying a 147 (01 to 02 plate, 2litre)??

Re: Manual or Selespeed (147)

You need to chack when the cambelt was last changed. It needs doing every 3 years or 36,000 miles whichever is soonest.

Also ask the seller how often he checks the oil. The TS engine does not like being run low.

The front suspension wishbones, both upper and lower can wear and cause wandering steering and clonking/creaks over bumps.

A car with average mileage say 80k is likely to need them doing sooner rather than later if they haven't been done already.

Re: Manual or Selespeed (147)

I'd definately have to say go for the sele i've owned one for four years now and to be fair had it's fair share of troubles, maybe some of the problems could be down to my driving!! i tend to be foot down everywhere so drive it quite hard. When you get stuck in traffic around town the city mode is great. My dads just bought a new manual spider which is a dream car but given the choice i find i enjoy driving my 147 more, the paddle shift is great when racing, i can always guarantee the sele puts a smile on my face when i drive it. Good luck with what ever you choose

Manual for me in future - if I ever have an Alfa again! Too many embarrasing problems with a Selepeed...
