It's time for me and Alfa Romeo to depart company.
I took the decision once and for all on Saturday. Went down to the local SEAT Dealers to test drive a Leon Cupra and loved it. I'm afraid to say that I have part-ex'd my Alfa 147 2.0 TS for a nice shiny Cupra in their showroom which I pick up on Wednesday. I have to say that this is a big weight off my shoulders not owning an Alfa Romeo. Don't get me wrong, I fell in love with the car the first time I layed eyes on it. But when you go through hell with having to get the car swapped because of Selespeed failures etc with crappy dealers who couldn't care less, enough is enough.
Plus points of the Leon?
Lovely 1.8 20V Turbo Charged 180 bhp engine
better dealer / aftersales service
way way faster than my 2.0 147
Meaner looking back end
Not as stylish interior as the 146
Not as good looking front end
Not as much passion or heritage as Alfa
I have enjoyed my time with the car don't get me wrong, but I can honestly say that I will not be buying another Alfa Romeo.
I have enjoyed this forum immensly and wish you all the very best and happy driving.
