Good evening guys, Back on line again. Have you guys considered that WE actually do work for a livin'. I mean, most postings are done in normal working hours. So, I guess our topposters actually get paid for posting, not working. Are they just lazy, or are they smart enough to get paid for doing nothing. We on the other hand post in our spare time. I'll get of my high horse now.
Anyway, that was a little OT; Oilconsumption has got nothing to do with tappet noise. ( If you check and top up regularly.) When a car consumes a relatively large amount of oil, oil is burnt because of bad valve-stem seals or poor piston, bore clearance. On the other hand, engines with a relatively high output per ccm needs to have low internal friction, which means that piston to bore clearance is bigger, plus piston rings are softer. VW TDI engines ( some call them quality engines, actually consume a LOT of oil).
So Alfa is part right in saying that high output engines require monitoring of the oillevel. And Jomor, it doesn't take a mechanic to check the oil-level, and top up the oil as necessary.
Just my 2P's worth.
