156 knocking noise

I'm into my third week of 156 ownership, just had both inner driveshaft gaiters replaced. After picking the car up from the garage I noticed that there was a knocking noise from under the drivers feet when pulling away and accelerating with intent.
I spoke with the garage and they said that they noticed it as well but couldn't find out what it was - I have also checked under the car and cannot see anything obvious.
There was no noise before the car went into the garage.

Does this type of noise ring a bell with anybody out there?

Re: 156 knocking noise

Probably the front antiroll bar (not cheap) or the antirollbar droplinks (cheap). Can also be balljoints on upper wishbones (?) at the front. Might as well check the wheel nuts are tight as well.

Re: 156 knocking noise

If its a clicking noise on accelerating then have a look at your drivers side driveshaft boot if its shot and greasy looking ,then it probably needs replacing.
If its a single knock then its the lower wishbone, or possibly the upper one which is more noticeable when on potholey thoroughfare and knocks moreoften.

Re: 156 knocking noise

They may have re-used the pinch bolts where the hub joins the lower arm ball joint.

This can allow movement and clonking.
You can check this easy enough, jack the car up and wedge something in between the arm and the hub and see if there is any movement.
